The Definition of Texture

You start to see
the weave
and the texture
that make up
the body,
or at least by
a certain age
you do,
and you wonder
how long you
had to hang
on the loom,
and who knit you
together in secret,
and the choice
of the yarns
they used.
And the colors,
all the colors,
and how they’d
loop them together,
over and over,
but maybe miss
a stitch or two,
but you grew
used to
the imperfections,
and you learned
how love and
accept them,
but you never
really saw
the pattern,
“did you?”
until the threads
start to pull in two.
