Change

And why
shouldn’t I also?
Like all things
who await
the lengthening
of days
that haven’t
quite arrived
yet, but are
on their way
as Spring
now just
heralds us
with the
lifting of
her skirt,
the unfolding
of her blossoms,
to the first song
of the crickets
I heard just
the other
evening,
as they awaken
from their silent
Winter’s sleep
to change.

I like the imagery here, particularly the “lifting her skirts” one. Very sensual, but then, that is what spring is like when everything is coming back to life and it’s nature’s time to be fertile.
