Cascade Range

To trace the edge
of jagged outline
silhouette is the
range of mountains
I grew up with.
And how far back
do they progress
in layers, upon layers,
where they build
one upon the other,
in gradation hues
of greens, then blues,
then violet. And I could
show you a picture,
of how they looked
in the warm haze of an
evening Summer,
but I’d rather try instead
with words to reconstruct it.
