Zombified

It seems like
how very little
time there is
in a day
to feel alive,
too often
set on autopilot
as time flies by
and we forget
the feeling
and the thought
it takes to blink,
and the effort
the eyes make
to constantly see
this very
act of living,
simply by the
air we all
continuously
are breathing,
so why act like
we aren’t?
When perhaps
all it takes is
one conscious effort
to stop all that
we are doing
to realize;
that no, we’re
not dead, not yet,
so why do
so many of us
live out
the majority
of our days
like a corpse
that’s somehow
still breathing?
